Petition goal: To remove the Ultra-Low Emission Zone

Reason for petition: Preserve the Historical Integrity of the Trocadero: Say No to Its Conversion into a Mosque

We, the undersigned, stand united in our commitment to preserving the rich history and inclusive nature of the London Trocadero. This iconic entertainment complex, situated on Coventry Street, has long served as a hub of entertainment and culture for residents and visitors alike. However, we are deeply concerned about recent plans to convert this historic site into a mosque, excluding others from its unique and cherished spaces.

The Trocadero's history dates back to 1896 when it was established as a restaurant. Over the years, it evolved into an exhibition and entertainment destination, gaining popularity through attractions like SegaWorld and Funland. The complex's significance is not just in its architecture but in the memories and experiences it has provided to generations of Londoners.

We acknowledge the importance of religious freedom and respect the right of individuals to practice their faith. However, we believe that transforming the Trocadero into an exclusive religious space undermines its legacy of inclusivity and enjoyment for all. The previous petition submitted to the Westminster Council, representing the voices of tens of thousands, was dishearteningly ignored and removed.

We advocate for a solution that honours both the historical essence of the Trocadero and the diverse needs of our community. The proposed conversion to a mosque, especially one with a capacity for 1000 people, raises valid concerns about local congestion, parking, and the disruption of the neighbourhood's tranquillity.

We urge the relevant authorities and stakeholders to reconsider this decision and explore alternative options that preserve the Trocadero's identity as a space for everyone. Let's find a solution that respects our history, embraces our diversity, and ensures that future generations can continue to enjoy this cherished landmark.

Sign this petition to voice your support for the Trocadero's heritage and its continued role as a symbol of unity in the heart of London. Together, we can make a difference and protect the inclusive spirit that the Trocadero has embodied for over a century.
